The gravy dripping out the sides onto the plate discorages the over-ambitious from eating it by hand. The slice of cheddar cheese melts into the gravy to fuse with the already complicated and delicious flavors of the sandwich. It’s smothered onto the more than generous piece of very juicy fried chicken and bacon slices. The famous sausage gravy as seen on TV is sweet and herby. If you even search Google for Portland and Reggie the first result will be Pine State Biscuits and you’ll see pictures of The Reggie biscuit sandwich. I guarantee that I will never grace the door of a Pine State Biscuit restaurant ever again.When a friend rolls into town and asks to be taken to a famous Portland spot, it’s hard to resist showing them Pine State Biscuits. I politely declined to order and took my business to another restaurant near y that was much more appreciative of my business, understanding and kind in helping me place a takeout order. So far, this place was the only establishment that has treated me like this. I travel for business and have tried to support “mom and pop” restaurants during the COVID pandemic. It was 8:00 AM on Sunday morning, not a soul around, no Grub Hub or Uber Eats delivery guys or anyone else in sight! Really! The person who answered was again very rude telling me they were really busy and it would likely be over an hour wait. I walked outside, dialed the number and tried again to make an order. Once again yelled at and told I had to leave and to phone an order in. I tried to calmly explain that I knew exactly what I wanted and wanted to make a take out order. I was immediately yelled at by the staff and told I couldn’t just walk in and order. open the front door and step in without reading the 40 or so messages taped to the door outside. Walked from the hotel to the restaurant to place an order. Their menu was appealing and had the comfort food I wanted. Looked on line for a takeout breakfast place and found Pine State. ![]()
